Sequins & Scallops

Oh heeeey! I'm sorry I've been absent the last week, so I decided it was only necessary to return with sequins! Sequins make everything better in my book --I hope you agree!
You may have noticed that I love a cute hemline [seen here & here], so when Obsession Boutique sent me this skirt >> instantly obsessed.  Plus, the store name is very fitting, no?
This sequin top and skirt combo may have had a little inspiration behind it as my boyfriend and I just booked a trip to St. Maarten for September. Sequins >>shells, sheer back >>sand, skirt >>ocean :D I've got the beach on the brain! Indulging in scallops will be necessary, too. If you've been to St. Maarten and have any recommendations, holla atcha girl!
Sequins are already a statement in themselves, so you really don't need to add any extra accessories. I opted for a dainty gold bracelet and necklace, and my Lauren Conrad earrings that I'm still obsessing over.

Latest Obsessions

Maybelline Color Sensational Color Whisper Lipcolor in "Bare to be Bold". It's a perfect nude color that goes on like lipstick but feels much smoother and adds a little gloss! [I'm equally obsessed with their Oh La Lilac, too]

These Charlotte Russe sandals --as seen on my Instagram-- that I also bought in black. & I also bought these. & these... I mean, a girl needs options >> bag from Old Navy.
 [][][]
Recycled some pages out of my 2013 Brittany Fuson planner. This 2014 calendar page is perfect to highlight important dates with erasable markers >> frame and stand from Joann.

No bake energy bites! I have seen them on Pinterest numerous times but never got around to making them & I'm so glad I finally did! Just one of them curbs any sweet tooth you're having, plus, they're super easy to make & they're really not that bad for you ;) I used this recipe [minus the chia seeds because I didn't have any] with mini chocolate chips --which was my favorite-- and this recipe, minus the flour [you could also add protein powder] & apple sauce, with butterscotch chips and sugar free syrup...which made around 35 bites.

This sequined pencil skirt from Target. I tried it on when it first hit stores and none of the sizes fit me very well. It was finally reduced to $15 and I thought the quality of the skirt was pretty good so I bought it & paid $25 to have it altered. Now it fits perfectly & still didn't break the bank!

Post Holiday Attire

I know I keep saying I will get back to posting regularly but ever since Thursday, I haven't been interested in much of anything, really. My outfits have consisted of pajamas. Fortunately, I have two looks that I shot earlier last week. I will get back to regular outfit posts but if it takes a little longer, please understand. On a happier note, on to the outfit!
I don't know about you guys, but after the vacation and all of the holiday indulging of food and alcohol, the last thing I want to be wearing is form fitting clothing around my waist line. Insert: the sweatshirt. With the fur, booties, red coat, [extra added weight] and sequins, this outfit made me feel like [my version of] Santa --which may or may not have caused me to go out and buy a few things for myself.

Faux fur snood: Express [similar here] | Coat: Target [cute one here] | Sweater: Old Navy [similar here] | Chambray: Kohl's [similar here] | Denim: H&M | Earrings: LC Lauren Conrad | Bracelets: LC Lauren Conrad, Ebay [similar here] | Rings: Kohl's, thrifted | Booties: Boutique 9 via Piperlime

Ignoring how much the wind was not working in my favor, how maj is this faux fur snood? So chic and warm-- I'm obsessed. I bought it at Express last year but luckily, I found a nearly identical version at ASOS for you!

Sealed With Sequins

A gloomy, rainy day calls for nothing other than sequins!
Remember when I talked about this sweatshirt back in this post? Well here she is. In all of her sequined glory... plus a few of my other favorite things: leopard, leather, and polka dots! Your day is bound to be great when you have all of that going on.

Confession: these pants, they have a tear on my backside just under the belt line [GNO & attempts to "get low", gets me everytime].. yeeeet, I just can't seem to part with them. They're the best faux leather pants I've ever owned. The fit is amazing, they actually have pockets, and you know how most leather pieces make your body temp raise 20+ degrees as soon as you put them on? These pants don't because the inside is lined with cotton; genius. Did I mention they were twenty dollars? They were twenty dollars.
I have desperately been in search for what I believe to be the "perfect" leather pants so until those are found, I'll continue to wear this pair with shirts that cover the tear [& hope that they don't rip any further]. Shameful, I know. if any of you ladies have found what you believe to be the perfect pair, holler at ya' girl.

Sweatshirt: F21 [also love this one & this one] | Collared shirt: Violet & Claire via TJMaxx [similar here & here] | Earrings: Piperlime | Bracelets: Sira & Mara, Express, Kohl's | Rings: H&M [similar here], Kohl's |Pants: Jou Jou via TJMaxx [similar here & here] | Clutch: Malibu Bows via Etsy | Pumps: Target [similar here]

As I have said about leather shorts, the same goes for leather pants: if you don't own a pair, get some! They're the perfect casual meets dressy, plus, they'll keep you warm in the winter.

P.S. The camera was apparently unappreciative to my matching lipstick on my lips and decided it would rather shoot as if I had white lipstick on. Thanks, Cam.
[this one is for you, Mags]

Markus Lupfer vs. F21

Splurge or Save

Forever 21

Markus Lupfer

While many of us love the Markus Lupfer designs, not all of us can afford to spend $150-450 on one of his sweaters.

Forever21 nailed it with the sweatshirt featured above. It looks very similar to the Markus Lupfer Polka Dot Lips sweater but is only $23! Investing in trendy pieces is typically not a great idea because they're not going to be around long and you'll usually only get a few wears out of whatever it is, so I think this F21 sweatshirt is a great option. Plus, any day that sequins are involved is guaranteed to be a good day so there's really no reason for you not to buy this sweatshirt [I'm a bad influence].

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but I can't wait to wear it. I love how Rachel, from Pink Peonies, styled her Markus Lupfer sweater here -- I just might have to recreate the look!
