Happiness Is A Tulle Skirt

I don't know what it is, but for some reason, when you're having one of those days, all it takes is throwing something pretty on, like a tulle skirtand suddenly everything in the world is right. Am I right, or am I right? A little glitter always helps, too...

I've been on the hunt for a tulle skirt for quite a while. When I stopped into Kohl's last week and saw this Lauren Conrad skirt [that I got for $20 with my coupons!], I knew I had to  have it! While the price tag was perfect, I also love that the skirt is a little longer and less poofy than others I've had my eye on, making it much more practical to wear on the reg. #teamLC >>She always gets it right. Though I must admit, I am pretty impressed with Kristin's line of shoes through Chinese Laundry >>#playingbothsides.

Anywho, snatch this skirt up while you can as it's so versatile [& comes in one other color]. I tried on multiple combinations before deciding on this outfit; sweaters, button downs, graphic tees, booties, etc. --everything worked!

Statement Scarf

I touched on the subject last week of how important scarves are; how they can be the finishing touch to an outfit or, in this case, the extra oomph an outfit needs. It's amazing what a patterned scarf can do with an otherwise, [gasp], basic outfit.
I know this bag totally does not "work" with this outfit --too many browns-- BUT I wore this on our drive to Kansas, had the bag with me, and realized I've never shown it on the blog before so a fashion faux pas just had to be done! Please, forgive me.
Anywho, I also really wanted to introduce you two because it's now offered in a gorgeous oxblood color. You need this bag if you don't have it already! I've had it for two years and use it all the time. It's perfect for overnight stays [even though we all know I always have a mini rolling suitcase with me, too] and looks more expensive than it is. The inside is this luxurious looking faux suede which is really nice, too.
Get it --& thank me later.

Sequins & Scallops

Oh heeeey! I'm sorry I've been absent the last week, so I decided it was only necessary to return with sequins! Sequins make everything better in my book --I hope you agree!
You may have noticed that I love a cute hemline [seen here & here], so when Obsession Boutique sent me this skirt >> instantly obsessed.  Plus, the store name is very fitting, no?
This sequin top and skirt combo may have had a little inspiration behind it as my boyfriend and I just booked a trip to St. Maarten for September. Sequins >>shells, sheer back >>sand, skirt >>ocean :D I've got the beach on the brain! Indulging in scallops will be necessary, too. If you've been to St. Maarten and have any recommendations, holla atcha girl!
Sequins are already a statement in themselves, so you really don't need to add any extra accessories. I opted for a dainty gold bracelet and necklace, and my Lauren Conrad earrings that I'm still obsessing over.

Neutrals

OBSESSED with one of my most recent purchases: these LC Lauren Conrad earrings pictured above! I can't seem to find them online but you should stop in your nearest Kohl's to see if they have any in stock. They're a fun spin on your traditional studs, adding the cutest little addition to your bling.
I know I've been talking these sandals up for a while now [& a very similar pair] but I seriously can't get over how adorable they are. You need them. Now.

You may have noticed my hair is pulled back in some of these photos and down in the rest. While I know Chicago is the Windy City, I think Springfield is a close second! Jeremy and I were having all sorts of issues while taking these photos.

Here I am getting frustrated and frantically searching for a hair tie... and this was also after we started taking pictures only to realize there was no memory card in the camera. Later, we attempted dining outside for lunch. After half of our salads blew away, we decided it was best to move inside. Then I drove across town to have something altered only to realize they closed early that day for a family event.

It was one of those days. The good news? Yesterday was my last day of college! Yahoooo! I was starting to think I'd be there forever ;)

Polka Dots + Floral

Over the weekend I was rocking a tomboyish style so naturally I felt the need to dress ultra feminine this week. My first instinct was to pair this skirt with a chambray top but I thought that was a little too expected. SO, sticking with the same style, I went with a print on print combo and chose this polka dot top [which I thought made it a little more spring-like since the skirt is so dark]. I'm totally loving it.
