Modern Day Vintage

Between this year and last year's shopping trips, I have gathered quite the collection of blanket scarves. Why? Because I'm obsessed... & they're awesome. I scored this one at Charlotte Russe for $5. No typo there. $5! If you haven't stocked up yet, you can shop this blog post --all sorts of cute and affordable options [that would also be great as gifts]! By the way, you can see my last gift guide here.
As for the rest of the outfit, it's pretty vintage ;P --a girls gotta shop her own closet during the holiday season [$$$]. These flares belonged to my sister when she was in high school [like I said, vintage --hehe! Love ya, sister!] and I haven't been able to part with them. I had them tailored to fit me better and I just love them! Flares, especially in a dark wash, do a really great job of slimming your legs and making them look extra long --getchu some. I prefer to wear them with rounded toe heels/heels that can't be seen [insert: ugly bridesmaid heels I found in the back of my closet]. If you know me well enough, you know I'm always rushing out the door so of course there was no time for me to iron these jeans. Had I ironed them, I could have pressed them enough to allow the pants to cover my heels. Oh well, what can ya do? [stare at these photos in regret that you didn't do that]

Anywho, our last "vintage" piece today is the menswear inspired blazer I'm wearing. I bought it at TJ three[ish] years ago and just ripped off the tags. I knew I liked it, I just hadn't felt like wearing it until now :) I'm glad I held on to both the blazer and the jeans. As for the heels? They can go. I'll be on the hunt for a new pair to wear with my flares.

I leave you with a little buddy who was lurking in the shadows, playing with his nuts, while watching us take photos. Oops, did that sound weird? Byeeeee!

Living in Illinois, the weather is anything but predictable, so planning outfits a week in advance just isn't realistic... which constantly results in me throwing an outfit together last minute.
I don't know about you, but the last thing I need when I'm in a hurry, better let me rephrase: already running behind schedule, is falling in a style rut and not being able to find anything to wear. Let's face it, I have plenty of clothes, but there are days when I absolutely cannot think of anything to put together! That's where StyleUp comes in. If you haven't heard of it yet, you need to check it out!

StyleUp is a completely free service that emails you daily outfit inspiration photos [Monday through Friday] that match your location's weather.

Upon signing up, you will complete a brief Style Survey so StyleUp can send you looks that match your taste. You can sign up to receive one email a day, or none, but where's the fun in that? I choose to receive mine the night before at 9PM so I can get a head start on planning [in my head, of course], but the other options are midnight, 3AM, or 6AM on the morning of.
Along with the photo, StyleUp includes your local weather and suggests ways to recreate the look. You can then rate the photo which helps StyleUp to match you with looks that suit your style!
Save time on getting dressed and informs you of the forecast? It's a win win.

On Repeat

Jacket: H&M [similar here, here, here] | Tee: Target | Denim: American Eagle | Necklace: TJMaxx | Bracelet: t+j Designs | Watch: Michael Kors | Sunglasses: Target | Clutch: GiGi New York | Heels: Zara [same ones here; only $27!]

I always look forward to Spring after a long Winter, not only because of the warmer weather, but because you can finally bust your heels out without the fear of busting your ass! Spring is also the most perfect time of the year when it comes to throwing an outfit on in a hurry. Anything goes. My go-to outfit this past week has been boyfriend jeans and heels, which I'm sure you've noticed
I bought these heels at Zara a year or so ago and just love them to pieces. I found a super affordable version at Windsor for only $27! I'm thinking I definitely need the taupe pair...
FYI, if you're going to order them, I'm not sure if the fit of the Windsor heel fits the same as my Zara heels but I feel that I could have probably ordered 1/2 a size down.

Fun Bun + Sun

Last Thursday the weather was amazing, compared to the cold temperatures we've been dealing with, and I was so happy to be outside with only a lite jacket. Reminds me of Miss Congeniality. "Miss Rhode Island, please describe your idea of a perfect date." >> "That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket."

I've been pretty casual lately, not putting much effort into my look [note: the hair]. BUT atleast there is something real nice to look at >> this Michael Kors clutch I won through one of Leah's giveaways! Eeeeek! I was so excited! Isn't she a beaut?

Jacket: JCPenney [similar here & here] | Tee: Target | Denim: H&M | Earrings: Payless | Necklace: Sammy Dress [also here] | Bracelets: Sira & Mara, ASOS | Sunglasses: Kendall and Kylie for Pacsun [similar here, here, here, here] | Clutch: Michael Kors | Booties: Madden Girl via TJMaxx

Now if only these warmer temperatures will stick around!

Leopard IS a Neutral

Happy Valentine's day! Chloe is curious as to what you have planned. Mani and mags? Galentine's night out? Hot date? Whatever the case may be, wear or do something that makes you feel extra special!
Jeremy and I are celebrating the looove tomorrow night with sake bombs, sushi, and martinis, then meeting a few friends out for [some more] drinks. I told you, we don't get very fancy ;)

When I went to Target to check out the Peter Pilotto collection last Sunday, I spotted this beanie. The gold studs caught my eye and I just had to have it [because we all know it's impossible to leave Target with only what you intended to buy].

Surprisingly, it wasn't that cold on Wednesday so I was able to wear something other than a heavy parka! I've had this jacket for a couple years now but lucky for you [that is, if you're interested], it's still on SheInside's website! I love the gold hardware and the quilted leather on the sleeves.
How perfect are these pants? They're also an old purchase but I don't see them leaving my closet any time soon. Great example of proving that leopard really is a neutral.

Jacket: SheInside | Tee: Target | Denim: Kohl's [similar here, here, here, here] | Necklace: Ebay [similar here] | Watch: Michael Kors | Rings: ASOS, H&M | Sunglasses: Target | Clutch: GiGi New York | Beanie: Target | Boots: Clarks [similar here]

These boots [and these] have been my go-to's this winter as they're perfect for the slick and snowy weather. I can't stress enough how important it is to invest in a solid pair of boots. I've had these boots for two years and they're not showing any wear or tear.
A good boot goes a long way, too. I feel like I can throw anything on with these boots and I'll still look put together because of the quality. There's been countless times that I've seen a girl with a really cute outfit on then I look down and [ohhhhh] cheap, plastic-looking boots that ruin her outfit. No bueno. Invest in the boots. You'll end up replacing the cheap ones every year anyway.. might as well throw all your money in at once ;) As my grandma would've said, "Ya' can't take it with ya'!"
