White in Winter

Remember this black sheer panel skirt I wore back in July? Totally obsessed with it [still]. Even though it's freezing outside, when this very similar white skirt showed up in the mail, I couldn't wait to throw it on! I've been wanting a white skirt like this for quite a while now and this one totally fits the bill. Come Spring, this skirt will be perfect!
To make the white skirt work for these colder months, I chose to pair it with an ivory quilted print sweatshirt from H&M [white on white would've been better but after browsing my closet, I liked this top best], a leather jacket [naturally], a faux fur snood [love], and black booties with peak-a-boo socks! While I'd prefer anything to make my legs look longer with a knee length skirt [like nude pumps or strappy heels], with the current temps, socks and booties had to be done!

Tips for wearing white in the winter: stick with neutrals or black and white, as I did, and add different textures, like my quilted top and faux fur snood --cozy knits and suede are always a great option as well [btdubz, I have no idea what's up with the shadows here but my knees def aren't that dark IRL --I bathe, I swear].

Splurge or Save: Isabel Marant vs. Charlotte Russe

I may have gone a little shoe-crazy on Thursday night, adding a different pair to my "shopping cart" every two seconds on Charlotte Russe's website. What can I say? BOGO, $15 off order, plus free shipping gets me every time... or perhaps homework stresses me out and makes me want to spend money. Anywho-- last year when I saw Shea Marie wearing these Isabel Marant heels, I was obsessed, but I knew I couldn't afford the price tag. Whomp, whomppp.

With much excitement, I saw these on Charlotte's site and think they're a great alternative at a much more affordable price! The heel is a little bit taller than the Isabel Marant pair but whatevs, still totally adorable. Not a fan of the heel? There's also this option which is pretty similar. This option appears to have the closest heel height as the Isabel Marant's but has a few differences.

All of these make for a perfect summer sandal, it's just hard to decide which color and which heel height! I bought the taller heel in "tan" and the medium heel in "taupe" [which I immediately regretted and wanted to switch to "black" but it was too late]. At the time, the flat sandals weren't on the website but now I want them, too...in both colors... eyeyeye... by the way, Charlotte Russe is offering buy one get one for $15 today!

What would you do?

Unidentified

While I keep saying I am ready to throw on fall layers, the weather just isn't ready for it. Meanwhile, I'm taking advantage of wearing all of the things that didn't quite get enough wear time this summer or last summer; like these shorts I found at Goodwill for $4! They were purchased as a pair of jeans that looked like a giant black denim potato sack, but I saw the potential. I knew after I cut them into shorts and roughed 'um up a bit they'd be juuust great!

How amazing are these heels? I think I was so happy to finally be wearing them out that I didn't want to look up at the camera. At all.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that posts may be a little sporadic for a while. With work, school, homework, blogging, "training" for another half marathon, bridal and baby showers, weddings, and everything in between, I hardly have enough time for it all [hellooo, my nails have been naked all week]. Oh, did I mention I have a boyfriend? I should probably make some time for him, too ;) My number one priority is school right now and with midterms coming up and everything going on, I don't want to get behind so I hope you all understand.

The times that I'm normally all dolled up will be replaced with sneakers, spandex, and sweat! I said "training" above because back in May when I ran my first half marathon, my friend and I "trained" by running liiike six long distance runs then decided we were ready to go, haha! It's probably not the best on your body but to each their own, right? Did I mention that this next half marathon is 22 days away? Oops, here we go again. I'm really great at procrastinating. Anywho, running makes me feel my best so I can't wait to get back into it. I normally run 5-6 days a week and lately it's been nonexistent with my schedule. Not okay. While retail therapy sits high on my list, running is definitely my favorite stress remedy :)

On that note, happy weekend, everyone! Hope it's fun-filled and stress-free!

Suited

There's something about a suit that just makes me feel in charge. Alright, I know this type of "suit" is not for everyone, but I'm diggin' it. Who wants a boring everyday black or navy suit or blazer and skirt combo that everyone else is wearing to the office, a conference, or job interview? Boring. "Why blend in when you were born to stand out?", right?

This Jennifer Lopez short suit is from Kohl's and I ended up getting both pieces for under $35. Can't beat that.
My first instinct was to pair some simple black pumps with this outfit, but I wanted to added just a little more edge so I went with these studded t-strap heels from Sole Society.
Because the suit is so "loud", I wanted to keep the jewelry to a minimum, so I went with gold ball earrings, a bar necklace, watch, a single ring, and pave link bracelet.

This outfit also works perfectly as a "desk to drinks" ensemble. Wear the blazer during the work day, then take it off at five o'clock when it's time to celebrate making it through the day without killing a coworker! Just kidding..

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I went to a barbeque and blues fest downtown on Saturday night with my parents and Jeremy to feast on some pulled pork and ribs. On Sunday, Jeremy and I worked on a table that will be acting as a desk in our office [I'm sure you'll see some of that later] then went to a cook out to celebrate a friend's birthday. Overall, it was a perfect weekend just before starting school today. Fingers crossed that this semester flies by! xx
