St. Maarten Vaca!

As promised, here's a round up of photos from Jeremy and I's recent trip to St. Maarten. We stayed there for a week and had a maaaahvelous time. While it was considered their "low/down season" [July to September], there was still so much for us to see and so many beaches to visit!

Our general schedule was:
Wake up at 6am --which is insane considering that's 5am IL time and I am totally not a morning person. I think it had to do with the sunlight coming in our windows from the ocean.
 We'd make breakfast in the room then leave our resort around 8:30-9am.

Explore the island all day until about 4:30-6ish and return to the resort. It only takes about thirty minutes to get from one side of the island to the other so we were all over the place, hopping from beach to beach, going on excursions, dining at local restaurants, keeping local bars in bizz ... you know.

By 6:00pm it was already getting dark so we would go back to our room, freshen up, then either head out to dinner, whip something up in our kitchen, or order room service! Then we'd get really crazy and watch tv or I'd end up reading #GIRLBOSS until I passed out. #partyanimal

There aren't any outfit pictures because I've come to the conclusion that, for the most part, it's unrealistic on our vacations. I'm not one to be photo-ready when I'm out in the sun and water all day, then by the time we would actually get dolled up, it was dark out. My sincerest apologies! ;)

I'll go ahead and warn ya' now --there's a lot of pictures!

~~~
[we --okay, I-- wrote in the sand]
[we did a lot of snorkeling & found some creatures!]
[we relied on this map, that looks like it was made for a 12 year old, as we drove all over the island --& I realized I am not a good copilot. *Fun fact: it's an invisible border between the French & Dutch side]
[we went to dinner at Topper's and dined with this cool cat --notice she was hogging most of the table]
[saw some pretty sail boats in St. Barts]
[went to a butterfly farm for the very first time --twice!]
[ ... & let giant moths crawl all over us --this type is considered the largest in the world]
[scooped up some shells at Shell Beach in St. Barts]
[met a little parrot friend at our resort --they said he's been around the resort since 1994!]
[awed at the view in St. Barts]
[stayed hydrated]
[This is where we stepped off the ferry in St Barts --when it's "high season" [December to April], this bay is full of yachts. #baller]
[headed back to St. Maarten from St. Barts at sunset]
[went to Maho Bay Beach a couple times to watch the planes fly in to the Princess Juliana International Airport --so cool]
[ ... & held on to the fence for dear life]
[the planes fly in so low that you feel like you can literally touch them]
[no money? no problem]
[we sailed our way back in from Anguilla]
[& drank our weight in "rum punch"]
[stopped by a fruit stand & bought some friends]
[had an entire beach to ourselves in St. Barts]
[checked out naked people the nude beach]
[drove carefully around the cows --who needs a lawn mower when you have these guys?!]
[went to "lolos" for lunch]
[bucket.beer.beached it]
 [enjoyed perfect weather --about 85 degrees the whole time-- and we experienced zero rain]
[visited Gouverneur Beach in St. Barts --which is one of the prettiest beaches I've ever been to]
[assisted the planes in landing ;P]
[pretended this adorable beach house was mine]
[took a snorkeling #selfie --the reef was dead & all there was to see was a few fish & a stingray --what do you want from me?]
[we took a ferry boat to Pinel Island]
[& went back to The Butterfly Farm --& learned even more interesting things!]
[this butterfly was born that morning & was still "drying out" before flying off]
[this mint/gold cocoon is one of the most common types found in the Midwest]
[thazzz ma boyfrand with an Owl Moth]
[this Atlas Moth was also born that morning --the guy said they only live around 7 days and, from what I remember, are in the cocoon for 9 months. Short lived!]
[Jeremy actually let this guy on his nose]
[we had two cats that would visit our patio every night --I may or may not have let them in our condo & considered bringing them back with me!]
[took a catamaran to Anguilla one day]
[soaked up the sun]
[enjoyed plenty of "VACATION DRINKS!!!"]
[lived in our swimming suits]
~~~

As you can tell, it was a fun-filled vacation! Jeremy and I brought back lots of memories, a couple stamps on our passports, rum, a broken toe/I think my whole foot is still broken, shells, a souvenier scar [those rocks in the ocean will getchya', man], and about twenty pounds between the two of us! Just gettin' a head start on that sweater body...

If you've never been to St. Maarten, I highly recommend it! We stayed at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort which I also recommend. Our room had a full kitchen, living room, two patios, in-unit washer and dryer, separate sinks [his & hers is a big deal to me], and jacuzzi tub! However, it is a very quiet resort. Normally, I like resorts with lots of music and pool parties and such, but if you're into quiet, this is a good choice. For the first time ever, we didn't go in any of the pools even once. Ocean. All Day. For the most part, we were only at our resort at night so it didn't really matter either way.

Jeremy and I headed to Kansas last night to visit his family for the weekend. Follow along on Instagram >> I'm sure I'll be posting plenty of glamorous pictures involving cows, corn, guns, & the like ;D --if I have service.
Have a good weekend, everyone!
